Redding - An Amazing City Of California

Redding is a marvelous city situated right amidst the beautiful mountains

. The city is surrounded by the fertile land at the backdrop of natural scenery. This city has grabbed the designation of being one of the largest cities located at the north of Sacramento.

The city is a county seat of Shasta County of California State. With an estimated population of about 108,741, it ranks as the fourth largest city in Sacramento Valley and Central Valley. This magnificent city is situated along the Siskiyou Trail, the route that used to connect California's Central Valley and the Pacific Northwest. The city is very well connected with other nearby areas by the I-5 freeway, U.S. Highway 299 and California State Highway 273.

Initially, the area was inhabited by Native Americans of the Wintu tribe. Pierson B. Reading was the first non native settler. The railroad was arrived in the area in the year 1872. The area was named after Benjamin B. Redding who was the first land agent for the states of California and Oregon Railroad. It became the county seat of Shasta County in 1884 with an initial population of about 9,492. The city witnessed a slow but steady growth up to World War II. The city of Redding acted as a gateway to several recreational surrounding areas.

Besides being a gateway to some of the most prominent nearby attractions, the city of Redding also offers great and must visit attractions on its own. Some of the must visit and not to miss attractions include the Sundial Bridge, The Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Lassen Volcanic National Park, Burney Falls, Shasta Lake and many more to add to the list.

Sundial Bridge is a first bridge of its kind in entire United States. This bridge is known for its beautiful construction and design. Its transparent glass deck, white Spanish tile and strips of granite make it a piece of architecture. This fabulous bridge is designed by world renowned architect known as Santiago Calatrava. He referred this bridge as a flying bird that symbolizes the overcoming of adversity. The bridge connects the north and south campuses of Turtle Bay Exploration Park and act as a gateway for Redding's Sacramento River Trail system.

Turtle Bay Exploration Park is situated at the banks of Sacramento River around the famous Sundial Bridge. You can even catch the glimpse of the bridge just by standing in the parking lot. The park is stretched over an area of about three hundred acres campus full packed with educational and entertaining activities. This is a perfect place to hold an important or auspicious occasion of your life. The park also offers ideal settings for indoor or outdoor wedding. The park is able to accommodate around six hundred guests at a time.

Turtle Bay Exploration Park is a perfect spot for making the events memorable by offering a wide variety of innovative things and activities to do.

Lassen Volcanic National Park is an exciting and must visit spot in Redding City. The park is situated at the extreme end of south of the mountains along with waterfalls. It is one of the amazing places that exhibit the beauty and richness of this marvelous wild land. In spite of being a volcanic in nature, the park exhibits a great diversity in areas and topography.
