Relevance, First Golden Rule On Keyword Research

I've been talking about it for a long time and i haven't done a thorough discussion about the four golden rules on keyword research with you yet. It's such a helpful tool that I'd rather share with you some of it's highlighted features than do something else. Comprehensive as it is, I have finally decided to break it into four separate parts comprising a series.
Last week, I premised this discussion about Shakespeare's keywords and I hope that that was enough to titillate you into reading more about the fascinating world of keyword research. Without further delay, here's the first golden rule:
Set out to identify the keywords
that are most RELEVANT to the content on your website.
Relevance is synonymous to appropriateness, pertinence, connection, relation, and significance. Thus, in searching for keywords for your website, you must always bear in mind that it is related or has reference to what you and your company is all about.
Appeal to your target audience using the simplest language possible. Refrain from highfalutin words that just confound the mind like conflagration and inundation when you could've just simply said fire and flood. The percentage of people that would likely think of conflagration and inundation is nil. So, why bother?

What Market Samurai does is simplify and speed up the process of choosing your most relevant keywords through these steps:
It allows you scroll down an entire list of keywords and lets you cross out keywords that are not relevant to you.
Negative keywords are keywords or keyword phrases that you're not interested in, you can easily remove those from the keyword rooster by entering the data and the system will do the rest;
Same goes with keywords that you are interested in, called positive keyword phrases. This will remove phrases that you don't want and keep positive keywords that you found.
The keyword list can also be modified by adding keywords manually.
It also features a phrase length filter that lets you filter the desired number of words contained in your keyword phrase of choice. If you only want three words in a keyword phrase, then you only get three.
It also has an analysis feature called the Phrase to Broad Match Ratio (PBR) that eliminates misleading and dangerous keyword phrases that search engines like Google can sometimes return. The likelihood that a phrase contains words in the wrong order depends on how low the PBR is. Setting a PBR filter of 15% is a great way to eliminate any misleading keyword phrases.
