Relieving Sinus Inflammation

While common medications for sinus inflammation can ensure cure

, methods as simple as getting enough rest can help a great deal in causing your symptoms to subside. Before taking a trip to your doctor's clinic, be sure to do the following tips on naturally relieving sinus inflammation.

-Get sufficient rest.

Going to bed is a natural response when the body feels a bit unwell, and for good reasons. Rest is integral in healing the body's system; it restores health where it is needed. Rest is therapeutic and it should be part of your treatment course. It was, in fact, a favorite advice among physicians before antibiotics and surgeries became popular. Even today, doctors still recognize the value of rest.

Whenever you have bouts of cough, headache, fever, sore throat, and other sinus inflammation symptoms, dont fight the urge to lay your back on a warm bed. Go beyond the recommended eight-hour sleep cycle, if needed.

-Drink plenty of fluids.

Fluids can dilute mucus, and in the process, make it easier for your body to expel it. Since mucus poses a huge problem for sufferers of sinus inflammation, it is very important to maintain proper mucus drainage. Do this by continuously drinking fluids.

Doctors recommend fruit juices, warm water, and hot soups. If you prefer tea and coffee, opt for the decaffeinated ones. Caffeine can sap water out from your body so avoid the usual variants that are loaded with caffeine.

-Breathe moist air.

Give yourself plenty of steam treatments. Take hot showers, have sauna baths, inhale aromatic steam, use humidifiers, or place a hot towel over your head. These can help moisten the air you breathe, thereby preventing any blockage caused by mucus inside your nose. The results are temporary though so be sure to do this at least once a day.

-Incorporate plenty of raw vegetables and fruits into your diet.

Cooked veggies and fruits are good as well, but raw diet is preferable when your sinuses are inflamed. These carry with them more nutrients and vitamins since they were not subjected to heat, which can cause vital nutrients to deteriorate. Drinking healthy smoothies is also advisable. Combine fruits and greens to provide additional nutritional support to your immune system.

-Avoid eating dairy and processed products.

When battling with sinus inflammation, the last thing you really want is to worsen the condition in your sinuses. Processed products like microwave oven cooked foods and dairy products like milk and cheese are believed to trigger increased mucus production. It is best to delay consumption, or better yet totally avoid these products whenever you are suffering from sinusitis symptoms.

-Increase your intake of vitamin C-rich foods.

Vitamin C provides the ultimate protection against diseases as it has properties to boost immune system defenses. It is also said that vitamin C can lessen mucus production.

Consume it in whatever form. Indulge yourself to fruits that have exceptionally high vitamin C content like acerola or Barbados cherry, tropical guava, green and yellow Kiwi fruit, and other Vitamin C-packed fruits like citrus fruits, apple, avocado Blackcurrant, grapefruit, mango, honeydew, cantaloupe, papaya and berries like raspberry, strawberry and acai.
