The Koopas are the enemies and that endanger the lives of the two brothers and as the leader of the Koopas, Bowser has the power to breath fire, he plans to abduct Mario's leading lady Princess Peach and to take charge of the whole Mushroom Kingdom. Mario is another nemesis in the Mario series; he is the bad guy counterpart of the kind-hearted hero that we all love. He appears to be invincible, but being the bravest superhero of all Mario is capable of defeating him.

Defeating his enemies with his numerous abilities and powers, are what makes Mario our favourite superhero. He can jump and take the food that allows him to grow bigger, healthier and stronger. His way of beating his enemies is through jumping and trampling them which kills small enemies and hurts the larger ones. Aside from the basic jump Mario also has more sophisticated techniques in dealing with his enemies, sometimes he does a sideways cartwheel in order to climb walls and he grinds the ground. Through power-ups Mario can grow larger, throw fireballs and become invincible to his enemies and most of all defend the Mushroom Kingdom.
