Remove Scratches From Limited Edition Sunglasses

Probably everyone at some point has put on their shades and noticed a big scratch

right across their field of vision, which is especially bad if you have a pair of limited edition sunglasses. After the panic and annoyance wears off a little bit, people wonder if there is anything they can do to save the shades from an ending in the city dump. Those who find only a tiny scratch that does not interfere with their line of sight are pretty lucky. More often than not though, the scratch is going to be two inches long right through the middle of the lens. If you have had this problem and have cried over your damaged limited edition sunglasses, dont throw them out just yet dont even purchase replacement lenses for them. Instead, try to remove the damage with common household items that you already have in your house.

You need to find out if the lenses of your limited edition sunglasses are made of plastic or glass. Many lenses these days are made out of metal plastics like polycarbonate, which is used because it reduces the risk of lenses that shatter into your eyes. Not only that, but this type of material is much lighter than glass lenses. If you have plastic lenses, you are in luck, because many of the repair options that are easiest should only be used on plastic. It should be said quickly that if you have glass lenses, you probably are going to have to take them in to a repair shop to have the scratch buffed out.

Many solutions you can buy to take scratches out are polymer based solutions. Since polymers and plastics are both made from carbon they bond with each other, and are able to fill in scratches and cracks. If you have limited edition sunglasses with glass lenses though, you should not use this type of solution. Take them in for buffing or purchase a new lens for the frames.

Did you know that many times, toothpaste and a soft cloth is all you need to remove scratches from your lenses? Just be sure that you get plain toothpaste, not the fancy expensive stuff with little chunks of whatever in it youll obviously scratch your lens beyond repair. Rub the toothpaste on the lens in small circles using the soft cloth for about 15 seconds, then rinse and wipe them clean with a dry soft cloth. Repeat if you need to. If your lenses have some kind of a coating on them, for example an anti glare coating, you may have a little more trouble. There is another product you can try called jewelers rouge, which also might work very well for you to remove those scratches from your limited edition sunglasses.
