Removing Skin Tags

Looking for a way to remove skin tags? It is actually a lot easier than you might think

. The good news is that you can remove skin tags by yourself in your own home, using only a few simple implements that you probably have lying around the house already. However, there are some precautions you have to take in order to reduce the risk of complications.

The truth of the matter is that you don't actually have to get skin tags removed. These growths generally don't cause any problems, and most people can leave them where they are without causing any apparent ill-effects. However, skin tags can become a problem when they begin to grow considerably and when they clump together in groups. Skin tags can also be very annoying when they get in the way of shaving, and the fact that they tend to bleed excessively makes an even stronger case for removing skin tags.

And then there are the cosmetic concerns. Skin tags tend to grow in areas of the skin where there are folds or wrinkles in the flesh. No one knows exactly why skin tags develop and what causes them, but they can sometimes be unsightly when they grow on the face. If you would like to get rid of these growths for cosmetic purposes, the options are slightly different than those you would have if you opt to remove skin tag located elsewhere on the skin.

Here's how to remove skin tags at home using only a bit of string. First make sure that the skin tag you want to remove is relatively small, and has a narrow section near the base. This is where you will tie the string later on, but for now, make absolutely sure that your hands are clean, and then clean the area thoroughly with an antibacterial solution. Isopropyl alcohol would actually be ideal for this purpose, as long as it has an alcohol content of 70% or higher.

The next step is to tie the string tightly around the narrowest section nearest the base. You can also use dental floss for this purpose. Tie the sitting as tightly as you can, and clean up the surrounding area with some more alcohol for good measure. You can then leave the skin tag alone for a few days, only making sure to keep it clean at all times. You can generally perform your daily hygiene regimen during this time, and in fact, leisurely baths can help soften up the skin and speed up the process.

After a period of several days, the removal of skin tag should be complete, and it should fall off without any incident. The only thing left for you to do at this point is to clean up the area of the previous growth thoroughly, and monitor it for signs of bleeding or infection.

Some people opt to use a blade, knife, or scissors to cut off the skin tag. This method of removing skin tags is not advisable, as it can cause bleeding and scarring.
