Renewing your Vows on the Monterey Peninsula
Renewing your Vows on the Monterey Peninsula
The Monterey Bay area is widely known as one of the most beautiful places in the country. When it comes to weddings, the Monterey Peninsula has become one of the premier destinations.
Aside from large ceremonies to say your initial "I do's," the Monterey area is also becoming a popular place to renew your vows. The great thing about recommitting yourself in marriage is:
It can be the greatest gift you give the one you love
You can keep it small and make it all about you (not your wedding guest, mother-in-law etc..)
It doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg
Imagine inviting your spouse to the Monterey Peninsula for the weekend. You promise a simple, romantic getaway from the hustle and bustle of the big city. The expectation is that you will get to spend some time together without many distractions.
You tell your spouse to get dressed because you want to go out to one of the nicer restaurants in town. You enjoy a delightful meal and then feign a stomach ache or plead your case that you are just so tired that it's time to go back to the hotel and call it a night.
You arrive to your hotel suite, open the door and voila - your renewal ceremony is about to take place! Inside the room are the wedding officiant and photographer. The living room area is decorated with candles, rose petals and dozens and dozens of flowers. Music is playing - it just so happens to be the same song played for your first dance at your wedding so many years ago.
What a surprise! The officiant hands a bouquet to the bride and boutineer to the groom. The ceremony starts and you renew your commitments to love, honor and cherish each other forever. At the end, you share a kiss and toast with a glass of champagne.
Alternatively, you could take your spouse down to the beach to watch the sunset. Only, there is more than sand and crashing waves waiting for them. Instead, they find a trail of rose petals leading to a ceremony site -- either a simple arch or a circle of 24 rose buds encircled with candlelight. The officiant is ready to perform the ceremony and the photographer catches all of the action - including your initial reaction to the surprise ceremony.
These are just a couple of ideas. With the holidays coming up as well as Valentines Day, it is often a struggle to find the right gift to give the one you love. What do you think they would like better -- another piece of jewelry, an electronic device or something that you can share together that will create a lasting memory?
