Rephrasing Emotional Intelligence - Do Emotions have Intelligence

??

My dearest emotions:

I was born with you,

I often get powered by few.

Till I continue giving the right feed,

I know for sure, I can succeed!

I once read a line from Buddha's ZEN teachings There are no problems in this world. Everything is already solved'. While my spiritual mind accepted every word of it, the realities of our complex life (which we have spent mostly chasing our dreams) contested every word and its implications.

So what could overpower this simple thought and superior teaching? My answer to it - Emotions'.

Fear, Anger, Jealousy, Depression, Spite, Despair, Displeasure..have seldom been mere words from English vocabulary but more often have been personifications of him, her, me, we us'.

Emotions are the natural response we evolve with.It is a force within, and in quantity abundant. We could only start to imagine what an abundant force - forever present within, could do when fed. How many times have you caught yourself crying despite instructions from your mind DON'T. Or blushed when all you wanted to do was appear unnerved.

A strong emotion always races ahead of billion thoughts in an untrained mind. This is why we react contrary to what we ought to. Well, there is nothing wrong in having emotions but nothing right in having them mismanaged' either.

To combat the above, often, people use the term "control your emotions". For me what works best is "train your emotions".

Apart from the play of words here, let us in actuality give a thought on the aftermath of any controlling act. Surgein the desire of freedom or desperate search for an opportunity to be let loose is often the result of a well controlled environment. As for our emotional brain' it often declutters itself by steaming off something else and rather soon. So what do you think can such emotions be intelligent? Maybe not. They sure can be motivators for your action & response. It can weaken you or empower you but the choice has to be made by you.

Train your emotions to combat the 3G effect:

Guilt: Tell your emotional brain - There is no room for guilt if the intention was right. Remember, the thought-after decisions are the best decisions one could take at that given time, hence there is no scope for guilt in life.

Grief: Definitely, a strong emotion which listens to no trained mind but our own. However, never forget the famous saying this too shall pass. The essence of this saying lies in the reality of our continued existence & the truth of life that God does not thrust us with problems we can't survive.

Gripes: In a famous anecdote from Mahabharata, Yudhistir was asked by the Yaksha -The loss of what results in joy not sorrow? To which Yudhistir answered Anger. Often our anger, frustration, irritation get the better of us. Post the complaining moment we almost always realize that it not just hurts us but also the people we love the most. Be patient. Think objectively. Always be prepared for the worst as well as the best. Give the right feed to your surging emotion. Divert them to more constructive activities. Create real strategies to enable positive thoughts despite the circumstances. Train yourself to become emotionally skilled'.

If you wish to soar with success in the competence zone then unite emotions and mind because that is where the intelligence for emotions lie. Be emotionally changed not just emotionally charged.
