The Christmas day festivities are loved and cherished by young ones but not the students who resume their semester in January. Therefore, Christmas only reminds them of the rather "boring" month that awaits. The reason why this month is branded so is because of the fact that exams and marking of exams (read as processing of report cards) happens then. The reception of report cards is often the worst bit of the semester. The heart beats at an alarming rate as the student stares at the grades written in red, which indicate that they have failed. As if the agony is not enough, the student has the task of going home and showing the card to the parents. To many, this is usually worse than suicide.

Some students delay showing the report cards to their parents, while others take advantage of parents who do not have adequate knowledge of schooling systems and hide the results away from them completely until their schooling is done. There is therefore need to have a means of parent notification system.

The best, cheapest and most reliable means of conveyance of such messages is through the automated dialing services. This is a new technique used in these modern era. The school administration or the one responsible for communicating to the parents records a voice message or types a text message to the parents after first listing the names of the parents to whom the message is supposed to be conveyed to. This technique allows the teacher to communicate to many individuals or groups at once in a fast and cheap way. Apart from only conveying school alerts, this method is also used in companies, by business people, by sales people and even by doctors when they need to remind their patients of due appointment dates. It is different from what used to be done before- manual dialing. This used to be quite hectic because of the energy and time it consumed. Sometimes, the caller used to feel as if they needed to tie the headset to their head strategically next to their ears for the whole day as they make calls to hundreds or even thousands of people. However, in situations where the message is not an emergency alert, summoning of the PTA members, an event cancellation, postponement, etc, then there needs to be an authorization by the recipient to use such a service. This is a legal requirement made to protect people from endless calls from unwelcome marketers.

There are several makes of automatic redialing systems, and each one of them has its own specific unique features. For instance, some have an application that allows the message to be secure from interceptions, alterations or even deletion. When the sender sends the message, a delivery report is given to them in details. If the message was not received due to interception by a third party, an email attachment will be sent to the sender to notify them. Also, it allows the parent and teacher to have security code that locks out any unwelcome person from altering, intercepting or deleting a message.
