Retaining Customers Through Gift-giving

It has been said over and over again that customers should be handled with care

. They are the bread and butter and honey of your company. Some companies call their customers as VIPs. Without them, you do not have a business or a company to run.

It's not just that you want to show your clients that you care about them; you NEED to show your clients that you care about them - especially if you wish to keep them as clients. As such, what better way to show your clients that you care than by giving them a holiday gift?

Since clients should be treated special, you need to give them something that is special too. Think of something that is of use and you know that they will appreciate, something that won't wind up in the garbage the minute they open your box or package.

Here are some unique gift ideas that you can give to your clients this holiday season:

Gift certificates. Gift certificates are always appealing to customers. You will notice that whenever someone was given a gift certificate, it seems he had won a lottery! For example, give each of your clients a hand-written note along with a gift card; but make it special by giving different gift cards to different clients. For example, if you know a client is an avid reader, give a $10 gift card to a bookstore. If you know another client loves to work out at a certain gym, give them a month's gift certificate to the gym. Personalizing your gift in this way shows your client that you pay attention to what's important to them.

Subscription technique. Along the same lines of of-the-month clubs provide a great way to give a personalized and unique gift. I assume you know your customer well because they have been with you lets say, for about 5 or 10 years. It will be a cinch to know what you will give to your customer. For example, if your client is a salad junkie, give them a subscription to receive a different bottle of gourmet olive oil every month. If they adore their dog, a dog toy-of-the-month subscription will tickle them pink. Best yet, because the of-the-month subscription is usually a minimum of at least three months, your client will be reminded of your generosity long after the holiday season is over.

For new customers, that is 4 or 5 months buying from your printing shop, you can give them some folders or pocket folders and other supplies. If you want, you can create custom folders to give customers the idea that they are known and valued in your store.

Charity works and donations. You might know that your client is passionate about saving animals, protecting the environment, or supporting cancer research. Another great way to impress your client is to give to a charity under their name. Not only will your client appreciate the gesture, you will feel great about supporting a good cause.

Concert or event tickets. What you give does not have to be an item; you can also give an experience. Send your client to a concert by his or her favorite musician or type of music. If your client loves the arts, give two tickets to a show at a local theater or an art museum opening.

Every gift simple can be the most extravagant to the cheapest or less costly, what matters most is that you remembered and valued your customers at a very special time such as that of the holiday season.
