Returning Journey From Tirupati To Bangalore

Tirupati, situated in the Andhra Pradesh State

, lies in the Chittoor district at the foothills of the Tirumala Hills. A major pilgrimage centre of India, Tirupati is home to the famous Lord Venkateshwara temple which is the busiest pilgrimage centre in the entire world with about 180 lakh devotees visiting the temple every year. In addition to the various shrines, there are also holy waterfalls, sacred rivers and archeological wonders that mark this city.

Bangalore, the capital of the Karnataka State is a well known hub for Indian Information Technology sector and known as the Silicon Valley of India. A growing metropolitan city it has many educational and research institutions. Numerous public sector companies have their offices in Bangalore. It offers an amazing collaboration of rich heritage and modernized lifestyle. With its beautiful gardens, historical monuments and multiplexes, Bangalore is a bustling tourist spot of South India.

Tirupati is well connected to Bangalore by the road and rail routes.

Bangalore is located at a distance of about 250 km from Tirupati. From Tirupati one has to drive on the NH18 (Chittoor Tirupati Road) to reach Chittoor. From Chittoor continue on the NH4 and go via Palamner to reach Mulbagal. From Mubagal continue driving via Kolar and Hosakote to finally reach Bangalore. This journey takes approximately 5 hours. There is an alternate route from Tirupati to Bangalore via Chittoor, Palamner, Kuppam and Krishnagiri but it takes an additional 70 km.

The first route is the most commonly used one as the roads are in good condition with sign boards. There are some good hotels enroute which provide excellent South Indian food and have clean wash rooms for your convenience.

There are many APSRTC (Andhra Pradesh State transport), KSRTC (Karnataka State transport) and private buses which run daily services from Tirupati to Bangalore at regular intervals. These buses come in various types like the AC or Non AC Seater with push back seats, 2X2 coaches, Volvo AC and Muti Axle AC. The bus fare ranges from Rs 300 to 600 depending upon the type of bus and the journey takes about 6 hours.

If travelling in small group you can also book a private taxi from Tirupati to Bangalore, the rental charges for a round trip starting from Rs 4500 upwards.

A more comfortable and cheaper way to travel from Tirupati to Bangalore would be by train. The train journey takes approximately 7 hours and the fare for a 3rd AC ticket is only about Rs 450. Some of the trains on this route are the Sheshadri Express (17210), Hatia Yeshwantpur Express (12835) or Bhubaneswar Yeshwnatpur Express (12845) to name a few.
