Reward without Risk = Affordable Custom Clothing

Reward without Risk = Affordable Custom Clothing

By Luke Mayes

Savvy investors are well aware that big rewards are very seldom achieved without an element of risk. Wouldn't it be wonderful if someone else was prepared to take a risk so that you could achieve a reward? Mr Kelly takes all the risks by employing his own team of tailors, buying his own fabrics in bulk, and saving a ton of money on advertising. All you have to do is turn up and be rewarded.

Custom made clothing is expensive for many reasons:

1. Labor

First and foremost, an incredible amount of time and effort is put into making custom clothing. Correct measurements must be taken to ensure that your body's unique dimensions are hidden and/or exaggerated to make you look your very best. This information is then recorded and analyzed to prepare a unique set of patterns for shirts, jackets, trousers, suits, and coats.

The fabric for your custom clothing is then cut from a bolt, laid out on a table, and cut to your pattern's dimensions. The cutting is all done by hand and none of this work is done in conjunction with any other work.

Once the pattern pieces are cut, the garment is sewn together. All of the sewing is done by a tailor who works on an individual machine. Finishing touches are done by hand with a needle and thread. Once finished, the garment is sent for a "fist fitting" to ensure that the proportions and measurements are all correct.

When the fitting stage is concluded, the finishing touches are made. The garment is pressed and ready for delivery. By this stage, many hours of labor have gone in to your custom clothing. If this labor is divided among different companies with different profit margin requirements, it is easy to see how costs escalate.

Mr Kelly saves a great deal of these costs by doing everything "in house." These savings are reflected in the price of La Rukico custom made clothing.

2. Fabric

Stocking fabric is an expensive business. Fabric houses like Dormeuil, Holland & Sherry,

Loro Piana, and Zegna make literally millions of yards of fabric and hold this fabric on shelves as they wait for cut-length orders to come in. Cloth from these esteemed fabric houses is highly priced and highly prized. Not only are these fabrics beautifully designed, the fabrics are constructed using the very best yarns, the very best looms, and the very best finishers. There is also a premium put on the immediate availability of this fabric which can take between 8 to 12 weeks to manufacture.

The fabric for custom clothing is usually ordered as a "cut length." What this means is a tailor will call a company like Dormeuil and order 3 5/8 yards of a particular fabric which will be cut and delivered to order. There are then freight costs and duty costs to pay on that individual length of fabric.

Now imagine if an analysis was done on the most demanded fabrics that gentlemen need for the basis of their wardrobe. These fabrics would consist of a beautiful black cloth for tuxedos, a selection of classic suiting (and shirting) fabrics, and some blazer fabrics. If these fabrics were purchased in bulk (a "piece" of fabric is usually 60 yards or more) the price would go down significantly. As a result, the price of custom clothing made from these fabrics would also be reduced.

Mr Kelly saves a great deal on fabric by buying in bulk and hunting for bargains with mills that he has a considerably long standing relationship with. These savings are reflected in the price of La Rukico custom made clothing.

3. Advertising

Unfocussed advertising is quite possibly the most exorbitant of all business expenses. Many companies like to stroke their ego in glossy magazines and on television, but who benefits from this? The consumer? Not likely. To pay for all this chest beating, the price of any product needs to be jacked up just to cover the costs of advertising.

When the cost of a product is dictated by the advertising revenue apportioned to that product, the quality-price dimension becomes way out of context. If you're happy to pay purely for a "label" then that quality-price dimension is acceptable. If you want to look great in a suit, however, that's another issue entirely.

When the majority of a company's business leads are developed through word-of-mouth and focused advertising, the savings on promotion and marketing are enormous. Your reading of this article is the very proof of that.

Mr Kelly saves a great deal on advertising because most of his leads are from customers (myself included). These savings are reflected in the price of La Rukico custom made clothing.

So now that you know that someone else was prepared to take a risk so that you could achieve a reward, go reward yourself with some custom clothing at La Rukico. All you have to do is turn up and be rewarded.
