. open rhinoplasty. There are big differences between the two techniques; however, more often than not open rhinoplasty is far superior to the closed technique. Some people might argue against it, but a large number of the best plastic surgeons even refuse to do closed surgery in most cases.

So what exactly is the difference between open and closed rhinoplasty? The closed technique involves no external incisions whatsoever, which means there will be no visible scarring allowing for maximum concealment of surgical evidence.

An open one requires a small incision made across the bride that is located between the nostrils. The nose is then flipped open to allow for better access to the internal structures. A small, zigzag scar will be left below the nasal tip.

Many people believe that a closed rhinoplasty procedure will mean no one will be able to tell they've had work done. This is completely untrue. No one may see a scar, but in general, no one stares up underneath to your nostrils anyways where an open incision would have been made. Your nose is going to look different after surgery (if your surgeon is skilled) and hopefully for the better.

Rhinoplasty is one of the most technically demanding cosmetic surgeries, and the outcome is largely dependent on the skill of the surgeon. The aesthetics of the nose are extremely difficult to master, so why gamble and choose the closed technique? The open method can allow the surgeon to make more balanced changes to the nose all around.

If you still are convinced you want to undergo closed one, it is best to consult with a plastic surgeon with many years of experience with the method. Some might even suggest that you choose open instead to get the results you that you want.

It's best to shop around and receive a few different opinions from surgeons. If you find that they all suggest the open technique, you may need to adjust your expectations; however, there is the chance that a few might agree and believe closed would be a suitable option for your case.
