Robin Hobb - A Great Fantasy Author

One of the greatest fantasy series ever written is going to be Robin Hobb's Rain Wilds Chronicles series

. Robin Hobb isn't any stranger to powerhouse series. Her Farseer and Tawny Man trilogies were actually incredible and path breaking. Her use of complicated emotions and very difficult characterizations is unique. Just like crystals, her characters have many facets that make us really identify with them. Her writing style is beautiful and uncluttered and makes for some very straightforward reading. But her concepts are complex and intellectually satisfying. Her characters might be straightforward and uncomplicated but she makes them do some amazing things.

After reading these 2 trilogies, I moved on to the Liveship Traders books. Once more, Hobb surpassed my expectations for a great fantasy tale but for a few reason, the series after that - The Soldier Son trilogy very missed the mark. I wasn't very happy with this series and I felt that the author was off her game when she wrote these books. In the Soldier Son Trilogy, Hobbs writing becomes bloated and her characters become one sided. They appear to show dreary darkness and strong negative emotions. She explores unusual themes of Obesity and Tribalism and the sheer incompetence of the protagonist makes you wish to tear your hair out. After some reading, you just wish to provide up on the main character. But then she came into prime writing kind along with her newest Rain Wild Chronicles.

This series begins where the Liveship Traders series left off. Tintaglia has successfully shepherded the sea serpents to the mouth of the Rain Wilds River and then will not make another appearance. The newly hatched dragons are malnourished and deformed. They have to be fed and taken care of by an unlikely band of human misfits. In the primary two books, the dragons are shows to own their own internal struggles as they request out their long forgotten glory. The author explores themes of societal rejection and emotional longing. Her characters regain their multi-dimensional aspects and once again we have a tendency to see an incredible tale of journey and deep struggles.

This book is also regarding a very little lady and her friends. Thymara, who is the main protagonist, is shown to be an outcast from her society of Rain Wilders. She is deformed also and instantly takes to caring for the dragons that mirror her own physical and mental state. There are also terribly fascinating aspect stories about wedding infidelity, cruelty and even homosexuality that produces this series full bodied and robust. The wine metaphor is apt for these books as a result of you'll really immerse yourself in them and take into account it time well spent. The author weaves completely different stories into one beautiful tapestry and that is what makes a Robin Hobb book what it is. I'm eagerly awaiting the third half of the series.
