When it comes to dating there are many different ploys. Many different tactics of approach. And there are many people out there who claim to be the love guru, the one that can make it all happen. They consider themselves god's gift to women. Well really they are no more special than you or me.

There are certain things they employ however that we should adopt also. For example being confident and interesting are to gimmes. Dressing nicely and taking care of yourself are also two fairly obvious things you need to do. But what a lot of people don't really understand is, when it comes to conversation you should make it all about them.

Don't be self absorbed around women, they hate it. A man who only talks about himself sends off all the wrong signals, and demonstrates all the attributes of a jerk. You need to engage the conversation and gear it towards her and what she does. Make the conversation about her and take an interest in what she does and what she says.

It is important that you do so discreetly, but make her laugh about herself. The way that she does something. You need to make out that it is cute and funny, and one of the little things you could learn to love about her. Don't be horrible or insulting, just laugh at the way she scrunches her face at times, or the way she laughs at times.

If you talk about your own situation too much, a woman will consider you a self obsessed waste of time. So ask her about work, what she does and think about a way you can relate to it. For example if she is a dentist, complain about your dentist and ask her when she is free to do your teeth. A loose example but those sorts of comments will deepen her interest in you.

The most important thing to remember when it comes to dating is you need to look at things in the bigger picture. Think about how what you are doing is being perceived by your date. If you are talking fast, this will be analysed. If you keep looking around nervously, this will be analysed. Keep the focus on her and you will not be analysed quite so much.

Dating is a complex minefield but you need to give yourself the best chance of avoiding those mines. Be yourself and take an interest in her, and you will be fine.
