Rolf Is Top '60s Seller

Rolf Harris has been revealed as one of the best selling chart stars of the 1960s

, according to data.

The Official Charts Company found that the Australian's song 'Two Little Boys' came nineteenth in a top twenty list of the best selling singles of the 1960s, which was unsurprisingly dominated by the Beatles.

She Loves You topped the chart and the Liverpool quartet were responsible for a total of six songs featured in the top twenty list, while there were surprise entries for Ken Dodd and The Archies.

Rolf Harris is currently combining his music and art career this year as he is touring his 'A Life in Art' exhibition nationwide while appearing at Glastonbury festival alongside Gorillaz, Dizzee Rascal and Snoop Dogg.

The octogenarian's artwork received greater gravitas during the latter part of his life as the quality of his skills were increasingly appreciated and he was honoured with an exhibition of his work at the National Gallery in 2002.

"As an artist there is no higher recognition than to be invited to have my paintings exhibited in the National Gallery, one of the finest galleries in the world," he said.

His show Rolf on Art, which was screened during 2002, was also the most watched arts programme ever and demonstrated his popularity with the British viewing public.

"The great British institutions the BBC and the National Gallery are two of the custodians of our cultural heritage. I am immensely proud and honoured to be associated with both of them," he added.

Rolf Harris prints soon became popular with art lovers and unfortunately also burglars as a number of the entertainer's painting were stolen from an Oxfordshire gallery in 2004.

Two rare Rolf Harris prints were taken during the raid in Peppard Common while one entitled 'The Boxer' was estimated to be worth in the region of 8,000.

Rolf has said that hosting his popular television programmes inspired him to paint and this has lead to a highly successful and lucrative career late on in his life.

He told the BBC: "During the making of Rolf on Art, I was genuinely inspired to do more painting. In fact, I haven't put my brushes down since. For the first time in many years, I felt the joy as I painted, of sharing my thoughts and my tips with the audience."

Rolf Harris was recently spotted at the Chelsea Flower Show with his wife Alwen.
