Royal Mail Bow to Pressure Could Mean More Successful Parcel Deliveries for Working Brits

When buying items online - like many of us do these days - people who have ordered

online before will probably be thinking whether the item will fit through their letterbox or not. If not then the post man will likely try to knock if anyone is home to accept the delivery, the trouble is that the post man often turns up whilst we are at work and so a postcard is left through our letterbox to let us know that the parcel has been taken to the local sorting office and that we'll have to do the legwork ourselves and collect the parcel in person.

Despite a few stories of postal workers who have posted these cards even if the person is at home because they didn't want to carry the parcel around with them the fact still remains that the whole idea of shopping online and getting our ordered goods delivered often means us collecting the parcel ourselves in the end.

This is obviously not very convenient to most working people, especially as these sorting offices close around lunch time making it impossible to collect our parcels outside of working hoursuntil now.

Royal Mail has recognised that this kind of situation is becoming more and more frequent and so is beginning to leave sorting offices open until 8pm so that people are able to collect their parcels after work at a more convenient time than first thing in the morning which wasn't always possible.

The sorting offices are also extending their opening times to 2pm on a Saturday too so collecting parcels should be much more convenient for the parcel receiver which will mean more parcel deliveries should be completed successfully and less instances of parcels being returned to the sender because the receiver has been unable to get to the sorting office during the short time window that they are open.

An alternative though for retailers is to use a courier service as some businesses do when sending important deliveries. Couriers will often operate around working hours so this could be early in the morning or in the early evening once you have return from work. Couriers often leave parcels in secure locations such as garages, sheds or with a neighbour which can help to make sure they arrive with the recipient without them having to wait or go to the local depot to collect their parcel.

If you need to send parcels that you need to be delivered on time then you should look into home delivery services and same day couriers that can deliver your parcels as soon as possible without having to wait around.
