The Canadian rock legends, Rush, are planning the Clockwork Angels Tour
. The progressive rock icons are dedicating this tour to their 20th studio album of the same name. As a result of the recent announcement, a mad frenzy for Rush tickets had ensued. While Rush has been performing at selected venues, the global tour will not kick in until later this fall. Clockwork Angels is the culmination of well over 40 years in the music business. While many bands have broken up over the years, Rush remains as united and committed to hard rock as ever. The current lineup includes Neil Peart, Geddy Lee, and Alex Lifeson. Past members include Jeff Jones and John Rutsey. Since their inception back in 1968, Rush has been heralded for their innovative rock ballads and albums. With 20 albums to date and scores of chart topping singles, Rush is simply the greatest band ever to come out of Canada.
An Iconic Legacy
Rush has received a slate of prestigious awards and honors of the years. This includes several Juno awards, along with being inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame in 1994. The band has also won countless online and magazine polls, in regards to the best rock group in Canada and North America. With 24 gold records and 14 platinum albums, Rush is listed as the third highest band in number of consecutive gold and platinum studio albums. While the Beatles and Rolling Stones lead the pack, Rush has gone on to sell over 25 million units in the U.S. They are also ranked 79th in U.S. album sales, while their worldwide sales are over 40 million in total. This adds to the iconic legacy of the band, as well as their place among rock and roll's most elite musicians.
The Time Machine Tour
Rush embarked on the Time Machine Tour in 2011. This tour was designed to pay homage to all those that supported them over the years. Whether it's fans, families, friends, or even the global media, this tour was simply for them. Rush performed for packed audiences all over North America. In fact, each and every performance took place at a sold out venue. With 81 shows and 2 legs, the shows featured songs from the Moving Pictures album, which was played out in its entirety for the first time ever. The tour also showcased material from the Clockwork Angels album, as well as countless hits from the past. Fan and media reaction was incredibly positive. In fact, a DVD was released shortly after the tour in honor of the band's performance in Cleveland. It was entitled "Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland," and is the first full-length performance by Rush in the United States.

Rush has literally been on the road for over four decades. While their accomplishments are purely historic, they always find time to release new material for their fans. The Clockwork Angels tour will certainly be a landmark event for the band. Already planned is an extensive play list, which will feature both timeless classics and current hits.
