I bought one and am waiting for another. It works exactly as it should and is very strong. I was also amazed at the knife's sharpness. It is not serrated but has a razor thin and very sharp edge. You'll have to keep sharpening it but that is even better than serrated knives because it can be kept very sharp.

If you aren't prepared, you may think that this "falls apart" when it separates. But this is simply so that the knife and fork can be used together as they naturally are at home. Unlike plastic, this one won't break when cutting food and won't melt when stirring coffee or tea (who wants melted plastic in tea or coffee?)

In fact, if you had a very small apartment with a shortage of kitchen drawers, you could easily stow these in a tin. Besides camping trips, this would work very well for eating lunch at your desk while at work. It is also fun for surprising visitors who think this is some kind of Swiss army knife. Should be included in an emergency kit for harsh winters and in case you get lost while camping.

Of course, you'll need equally or more important survival gear beside fold-up silverware. But this can be washed, used again and help make meal time much easier. Have a good emergency blanket and (depending on the situation) a tent, dehydrated food, plenty of water, first aid kit, etc...and add this to your gear.

Splits into two pieces when spoon and fork both open. Keep it in my lunch box when not camping. Always there if needed.

I purchased two last year (one for me, one for wife) and I'm buying two more. I ended up keeping on in the car and one at work. Now my wife wants one for work and one for her car too. Nice to know I've got these around for camping this summer too.

This is an ideal camping utensil. Compact and light, and with it carrying case, easy to transport and keep handy. I especially like that you can break it apart and use the knife and fork at the same time. Great tool. A must for any serious camper.

This really clever gadget is almost perfect for the casual camper who wants to the convenience and luxury of eating with real metal utensils. I highly recommend looking at the very helpful video review posted by "Tedward" since it shows all of the components of this handy set. Here are my observations:

+ Compact Size; when folded, it is about the size of a large Swiss Army Knife

+ Belt Case; nylon case is convenient for carrying when not in use

+ Fork and SpoonKnife section detach from each-other, allowing the fork and knife to be used in different hands at the same time

+ Also has a canottle opener, awl, and corkscrew

We bought two of these and leave them in our backpacks so they are always on hand when we go camping.

I recieved my set today and I'm one of the lucky ones, I guess. Mine was perfect right out of the box! Worked just as it should, fork, knife and spoon all tight fit on opening and closing as it should be, as they relax with use. For the $4.00 I paid couldn't be happier. Small compact storage in its nylon storage bag measuring 4 1/2" L x 1 1/4" D. Fits on a belt, purse or backpack. Fork fully extended 7 1/4" L, 4 1/2" is handle. spoon/knife is 9 7/8" L fully extended. also has small ring to attach to a key ring or whatever if desired. This is a great addition to my emergency/survival gear. Ideal uses are camping or emergencies. Has a brushed finish on exterior handles. There are smoother more finished and higher quality available from others like swiss, but this is perfect for occasional use or buget survival. Smith's pocket knife sharpener works great on knife.
