Any damage that is done will unfortunately be permanent.

Consequently, now you may be asking yourself, "well, how do I find out if I have this disease?" Diagnosing PID is not always a simple procedure because the site of the infection cannot be examined easily and PID symptoms are similar to other conditions such as appendicitis. You will most likely have a routine pelvic exam administered. During the pelvic exam, the medical technician might take samples to look for the germs that cause gonorrhea and chlamydia infections. As well, blood tests also may be done.

As with any medical problem, if you feel that something is wrong, or even if you are suspicious, do yourself a favor and go get examined immediately. The repercussions are too great of a risk to take if you are simply too scared or ignorant to deal with the fact you might have an STD. Go get tested today.
