Safety Precautions Upon Riding A Motorcycle

Motorcycles are cheaper and sometimes even faster to ride since anyone can zoom in

and out of the traffic. But its not exactly the safest vehicle. In Ohio, there was a man who had two major blowouts of his motorcycles D402 tires.

In 2008, he rode his 2002 Ultra Classic bike to tour around the US.He bought from an estate sale and the bike had 6,002 miles. He even replaced it with two new tires. But in 2009, he drove to Florida. His rear tire blew out again.

His accident gave him a punctured lung, a severely broken scapula, broken clavicle, several broken ribs, bruised, punctured and collapsed left lung and lastly, a pulmonary embolism. The defective tires were almost a few days from turning one-year-old and he always checked its tire air pressure.

Knowing a possible factory defect:

Tire malfunctions

Strange wobbles or noises

Sudden motorcycle malfunction

A crash with no obvious cause

Accident involving heavily loaded motorcycle

Motorbike accidents can cause broken or fractured bones, road rash, concussion, loss of a limb, paraplegia, quadriplegia, traumatic brain injury or TBI, bulging or ruptured discs and other injuries.

The injuries can be very serious and grave, to the point that it can be a reason for the driver to die. Those who are lucky can take several weeks or even months to successfully recover from the impact of their injuries.Nursing aid at home might even be needed along with hospital equipments, physical therapy or rehabilitation and other specialized medical treatments to speed up the recovery process.

Another accident was Kurt Riffe, a 45 Parts Depot owner. He has an online motorcycle parts business. He reported a case when a D402 tire was defective. He and his wife were riding their 2008 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic at Ohio highway with the speed of 75 mph.All of a sudden his tire gave way.Fortunately no one was injured. The tire only had 7,600 miles and according to Riffe, he always checks his tire air pressures and oils before he uses them.

Head injury prevention: Wear a helmet

Wearing a helmet is important because a major downside of not using one is brain injury. In the US the law states that either they: (1) Provide only for criminal penalties or (2) Do not state the effect of the violation has if the driver is liable for the accident.

There are states wherein they treat the failure to wear a helmet as an act of negligence on the side of the driver. In some jurisdictions with no laws requiring wearing of helmets, the evidence itself is inadmissible if he will file a lawsuit against the other involve party.
