Music for All: Samsung M2510

Samsung M2510 focuses on the bare necessities to deliver what has to be the most Spartan music playing mobile available. Not that casting off extra features is always a great idea, but there is always a market for GSM phones that deliver exactly what you need, nothing more, nothing less.

What makes this phone so great is the simple fact that it does what it is supposed to do perfectly. The phone delivers high quality music (though the supported file types are limited) and is the perfect travelling companion for any music fan who cannot afford to have separate phone and music player.

Basic Features: Dimensions, Screen and Music

With GSM devices, size is not really an issue. Most GSM phones do not use touch screens (much like this phone) so the full size does not become a problem unless the phone is particularly bulky. The M2510 is an average sized phone with the dimensions of 99.5 x 46.5 x 15.7 mm. The 15.7 mm is understandable because the phone is a slider, and by default, slide phones are always a little thicker (too thin and they get awkward to hold when the device is slid out). The weight of this phone is a very light 90.5 grams, making this a viable choice for a phone that you can hang on your neck.

The screen on the M2510 is only 2.2 inches. This comes as to no surprise since the phone cannot fit in anything bigger on its 99.5 x 46.5 mm front face. The resolution of the screen is 176 x 220 pixels and it can display a total of 256 thousand colors. Performance wise, the screen does well with text messages, wap site and the user interface. Even viewing 3GP and MP4 videos comes out nicely. The screen refresh rate is a little slow so expect a little lag when navigating.

The audio quality of this device might be underestimated a lot, after all, one would not expect that a simple GSM phone would be able to deliver high-quality music. Thanks to the Samsung speakers and the DNSe (digital natural sound engine) technology, the quality of music is greatly improved. DNSe is able to reduce noise thereby increasing the overall quality of the music. Music files supported by the phones player are limited to MP3, eAAC+ and WMA.

M2510s Camera

The M2510 also comes with a 1.5 mega pixel camera that can shoot images with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels (which prints 3 inch photos at 300 dpi). It is not far behind the average 2 mega pixel cameras found in most GSM phones, and it works nicely. The camera can also be used to shoot short video clips.

Battery Specs

The Samsung M210 comes with a standard 800 mAh lithium-ion battery. On a full charge, the battery will keep the phone running for up to 360 hours on standby mode and will give users a full 8 hours of continuous talk time. It has not been confirmed how long music playback on this phone is, but it should at least last you a good 20 hours before reaching low levels.About the Author:
