There are many entertainment venues throughout the city that play host to San Diego performing arts

The San Diego Performing Arts League is an organization that promotes different events in the city by encouraging audience participation and by helping to increase the publics knowledge of events that go on. The group covers performances in all aspects, including dance, music and theater. From small, little known acts to world famous musicals, operas and plays, there seems to always be something for everyone in the city to see.
One of the most famous entertainment venues that supports the performing arts is La Jolla Playhouse, and one of the favorite musicals that is performed there often is Aurelias Oratori. This musical is full of famous illusions, tricks, surprises and transformations. Part of what makes the musical so popular is the content it is a journey through dreams coming true and the seemingly impossible becoming possible.
The Diversionary Theatre is the third oldest LGBT theater in the nation and often hosts shows that tell tales of lesbian, gay and bisexual people who have to come to terms with different realities involving their sexual orientation. One such popular show is Marriage Bed, which tells a story of two women who are thinking of getting married to each other. Both women have baggage in tow though, and they struggle in their decision making to decide if they want to be legally bound to each other. It is a comedy but has sensitivity at heart as well.
The famous Cirque du Solei is another popular San Diego performing arts performance. This tale is about Innocent, a melancholy person who is trying to find his place in the big world. Kooza is a show that uses acrobatics and circus clowns in a new, fun and unique way. Innocent runs into many fascinating characters as he trudges along on his journey, and what makes it mroe interesting is the fact that each one of those characters represents a different theme, namely fear, power, recognition and identity.
San Diego performing arts cannot be mentioned without talking of the San Diego Opera, which began its 2010 season with the infamous La Boheme. This is a tragedy about a seamstress and a poet who discover that love and loss basically and eventually are one in the same. Romeo and Juliet is a popular production that makes San Diego performing arts popular, too.
Finally, the King of San Diego performing arts, the San Diego Opera, begins its 2010 season with La Boheme in early February. Nabucco will continue the season in late February, which follows the plight of the Jews and their persecution by King Nabucco, a Babylonian king. Romeo and Juliet will be presented through the month of March, and La Traviata will be enjoyed throughout the month of April.
