Scholarships For Moms Returning To College

There are thousands of scholarships awarded by American colleges and universities every year

. Many of these scholarships are awarded to athletes, but keep in mind, these scholarships don't just go to football, basketball, and baseball players. If you participate in tennis, golf, wrestling, fencing, rowing, water polo, softball, track, and many other sports - there are colleges and universities that want to recruit you and will pay for some or all of your tuition.

For non-traditional scholarships, you may need to take stock of your physical attributes and then do some Internet research. If you are a male and over 6'2" or a female who is at least 5'10", you may want to contact the Tall Club International who offers money for college if you submit an essay about "What Being Tall Means to Me."

Your essay must also be original and true to what you really feel. Scholarship committees are looking for a person who is unique and voices their own opinion. Not someone who copies another person's work or whose situation is like many of the other applicants.

Getting back to left-handed students, the Frederick and Mary F. Buckley scholarship goes to left-handed upper classmen who attend Juanita college. Financial need has to be proven and you also have to show that you favor your left hand when you perform tasks like writing.

Make sure that you are open to all colleges that offer college scholarships. This is because you may not get an athletic scholarship from the college of your choice. But even if you get a scholarship to a lesser known college, you can still get a great education and go on to play professional sports if that is what you want to do after you graduate. The point here is that it is better to get your college paid for through a sport scholarship than it is to pay for it yourself.
