As per the reports, demand for Scooters in India in India is once again facing increment with growth of the economy. And as enquired, every fifth two-wheeler sold in the month of October in the country was a scooter. Indian market for long has remained motor bike dominated being the scooter range of two-wheelers lagging behind. The emergence of small families in the country have pushed the growth of demands for scooters. Also scooters are known to be the most suitable convenience for ladies and young generation. It is definitely not possible to match the demands as those of the 1980s and first half of 1990s. The Indian public is getting attracted to motor bike segment as these with solving the purpose also provides them the style they look for, being the fact that Bajaj plant at Pune which was a scooter plant is now producing bikes only. With this, the Indian scooter companies have decided to accommodate their scooters with latest features, enhanced style and appealing looks. The companies like Honda, Bajaj, Mahindra and Mahindra,etc also assures to accomplish their products with latest technology and keep updating their models time to time. With this these scooter models are now ready to compete with their rival segment, the motor bikes. One big reason for the sale of scooters to fall in the country is that the models are not available instantly being the fact that the Indian customers wait long that is for some around four to five months to purchase the most popular Honda Activa, Suzuki Access and Hero Honda Pleasure. We hope to cater to the Indian demand with our second plant coming up in Rajasthan next year, but till then we are forced to struggle to cope with this massive demand," said NK Rattan, head of marketing & sales at HMSI. "We cannot cope with the demand as our single scooter offering, Access 125, currently has a booking backlog of around 50,000 units. We are planning to launch more scooter models to bridge the gap in this fastest-growing segment of the Indian two wheeler market," said Atul Gupta, a VP in charge of marketing & sales at Suzuki Motorcycles India.
