Scriptural Faith Is the Solution to The World's Problems

All of the problems that society faces can be traced to the fact that the world has rejected the government of God

. There are so many people problems that are plaguing the world that many are looking for clear direction on how we can deal with our very real problems. The most pressing area right now where the world is feeling the pain of sin is in the world-wide financial recession. Few understand that the economic recession is a due to man rejecting God's wisdom. The only answer which has the ability to restore economic health and well-being to the world is to restructure our the world's upon the wisdom of God.

The church has an outstanding opportunity to lead the nations back into spiritual, moral and economic health and well-being by applying Chrisitian teachings to social architecture. The moral laws which are revealed in Scripture are an eternal record of how to organize the world to be the greatest possible blessing. Even though it is impossible for unregenerate man to be able to fulfill the moral law in his fallen state, nevertheless, scriptural law establishes a social structure that restrains wickedness until people are transformed through the power of the gospel. When chrisitian laws rule the world individuals are rewarded for good behavior and punished for bad behavior. This naturally leads to restraining wickedness, even though it doesn't change men's hearts.

I once spoke with a man who was a convicted murderer He beat a man to death in a street fight, and subsequently he spent a some time in prison. This man told mea great manystories of physical violence which he had done as well as many people other socially harmful acts. I enquired of him if he would have commited those offences if he knew that the world's punishments would have been more severe and he told me that there is absolutely no way he would have. This person understood what kind of trouble he would get in for doing various criminal things, and determined that if the punishment was endurable and he then decide to do things which individuals should never do. The point is that individuals often do things which they know they shouldn't, but decide to anyway because they know that they can get away with it. When the nations structures their laws according to scriptural wisdom, it creates a society where people's wicked behavior is restrained because they know that the cost of such behavior is more than they are willing to pay.

The purpose of such laws is not to punish people, but to restrain them from doing evil. This makes the world a better place for all citizens. It creates civilizations that protect people's rights and generally encourages people to do good. Since evil is something that propagates like a cancer, restraining it is a great blessing. Multitudes people do wickedly as a result of being treated wickedly. If we are able to restrain behavior in such a way that it curbs evil, the benefits will ripple throughout the nations.

Yet restraining sin is only the negative aspect of structuring society according to chrisitian law.

Encouraging justice is the more effective aspect of biblical law, for this also has a viral effect on the nations. As men are rewarded and persuaded to do well, their actions of kindness and goodness often encourage other people to do likewise. The moral teaching of Scripture being greatly valued in the hearts of men makes this a reality. The Bible teaches morals such as love for our enemies, forgiveness for those who have done wickedly to us and generally encourages us to live to be a blessing to others. When individuals live such good values out in their personal lives it causes positive change in among the nations.

As Christians we have an amazing chance to bring positive change to the nations when we make the biblical vision clear that teaches us how to structure the nations according to godly wisdom.
