OneRepublics Secrets lyrics were written by Ryan Tedder
, and were released as the first single off their second album, Waking Up. The Secret lyrics has opened up discussion on different interpretations, one of which involves the subject of the song going all out and giving everything of himself away, simply out of boredom. Some also claim the song is more of a homage to his musical influences.
Secrets hit the Billboard 100 charts and was featured prominently in various media outlets, including in the film The Sorcerers Apprentice, the TV show Lost, and as the signature song for Ralph Laurens Big Pony fragrance video.
Ryan Tedder stands as one of the most sought-after songwriters and producers in the music industry, writing for the likes of Adele, Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson. He recently garnered a Best Producer Grammy for his work on Adeles 21 album.
OneRepublic all started with a friendship between Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins, two teenagers from Colorado Springs. When these friends found commonalities in their musical tastes, they decided to come together and form a band.
It was a slow beginning, as the friends split up the band temporarily after attending different colleges. They rejoined after college under the name Republic. By 2002, Tedder had already become an established producer and songwriter.
Zach moved out to Los Angeles with Tedder to remake the band. OneRepublic started receiving mainstream attention with their second album Dreaming Out Loud.
Peter Tagtgren started the Swedish metal band PAIN in 1996, through which he aspired to blend heavy metal with industrial, electronic and techno music. Since then, PAIN has released seven albums, the most recent one in 2011 entitled You Only Live Twice.
Tagtgren stands as the only current member of PAIN, in which he composes and writes all songs, as well as performs all instruments. A few other members also contributed guitar, bass and drums for PAINs previous albums.
Tagtgren is also the founder of The Abyss studios, a label specializing in death metal, as well as lead vocalist of Hypocrisy, a death metal band. Hypocrisy is Tagtgrens main focus, with PAIN as a side-project.
Tagtgrens heart stopped while recording his fourth album, which he said inspired the writing of PAIN lyrics for the song Dancing with the Dead. The PAIN lyrics throughout the discography mostly consist of angst, anger and frustration. PAINs hit songs include Shut Your Mouth and End of the Line.
PAIN also released a concert DVD entitled Live is Overrated, which was filmed over several concerts, including 2005s Metalmania, a concert in Tavistia Club in Helsinki, and the Krzemoiniki TV Studio in Krakow.
