Secrets To Successful Flirting

Flirting, the art of using body language and stimulating or playful conversation

to indicate a sexual or romantic interest in another person, can be an end all in itself or can prove to be the start point of a romantic interlude or long-term relationship. In order to be successful enough at flirting to capture the other individual's attention, there are several secrets to doing it right.

It's important to feel confident and playful to be successful at flirting. Without this attitude, your efforts are likely to fall flat. Displaying a winning smile, big enough to be noticed, but not so obvious as to look fake, is another key to successful flirting. Go ahead and flash those pearly whites at the object of your affection.

Once the person you've directed your smile at has noticed you, resist the urge to look away. Don't be embarrassed to keep smiling and actually make eye contact. Follow up that eye contact with a little bit of a wave, especially if they are across the room or at a farther distance from you. This will really begin to attract their attention. Now you've successfully begun to flirt.

Now you're ready to move to the next level of flirting, which is starting a conversation with the object of your flirtation. The best conversation starters are questions, requests for help or a comment about the event or circumstance that finds the two of you in the same location. It helps to carry a prop when involved in the art of flirting. For women, this might be an unusual piece of jewelry and for a man, a book or unique class ring.

Don't be afraid to move in close to the person you are flirting with, close enough for them to get a whiff of your perfume or cologne. Fragrance is a powerful sexual stimulant. Don't get too close, however, too quickly that you make the other person uncomfortable about invading their space. Light, playful touching is allowed on areas such as the hands, arms or shoulders, but nowhere else unless you want to be accused of sexual harassment.

Continue flirting without overstaying your welcome. It's better that you leave before the conversation gets too serious or you run out of things to say. Successful flirting always leaves the other person wanting more, so as you say your goodbyes, you still have a chance to get or exchange phone numbers for future contact.
