Make sure the debit card has funds.

They must remember how much they loaded so as to keep track of their spending. By keeping track of their funds can they prevent overdraft fees or over-charging.


Avoid using it for online shopping.

Consumers don't know the agents handling their account when online shopping. For all they know, they might sell their card information or use it themselves. When this happens, it becomes a huge problem for debit card accounts. Because their funds are on the card, they can easily lose a significant amount of money. This is not the case with credit cards since they are well-protected by the credit card act. Any fraud will be automatically covered by the bank.
