Rose Parade Pasadena - A Visual Delight!

Rose Parade Pasadena - A Visual Delight!

With more than 700,000 tourists expected to be in attendance for the annual Pasadena Rose Parade on January 1, 2013, there are sure to be numerous celebrations happening around the city. The annual parade is one of the most-watched events on television, with more than 47 million people in the United States tuning in. This year's parade theme is "Oh, the Places You'll Go" and there are certainly going to be some fascinating and original floats. Designers are required to use only natural materials to cover all exposed surfaces of their Rose parade floats, so visitors will see gorgeous arrangements from flowers, seeds, bark, leaves and more. Do not forget to bring a camera along when you attend the parade, because it is guaranteed to be an amazing visual experience!

Rose Parade and Coastal California Tour - A Beautiful Combination! Rose Bowl Parade, Then Tour California Coast!

After enjoying the Rose Parade and experiencing Los Angeles, it is time to venture further and tour California! Travel North along California's beautiful coastline to Santa Barbara, Solvang, and stop at San Luis Obispo. Visit Hearst Castle - a stunning stop on California tours - the vast, elaborate and sometimes eclectic estate of former publishing mogul William Randolph Hearst, for a guided tour of the famous and magnificent castle. Then head to Carmel via Big Sur, along spectacular Highway One, always on the lookout for California Gray Whales migrating along the coastline around this time of year. The day ends in Monterey, location of John Steinbeck's "Cannery Row."

The following day, enjoy the pristine scenery of the Monterey coast along the fabulous 17 mile drive, then on to San Francisco for a comprehensive city tour. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge and come back, see Chinatown, Lombard Street and Nob Hill. The next morning, take a excursion to Alcatraz Island, home to famous inmates Al "Scarface" Capone and the "Birdman" Robert Stroud. The next full day is at leisure to tour California as you would like. Join an optional tour of the beautiful California Wine Country of Napa and Sonoma. Or tour the Muir Woods National Monument to see the monumental Redwood trees. Finish with a tasty seafood farewell dinner by the water.

Rose Parade, Southern California Tour - What a Combination!

Explore Los Angeles. Enjoy the Rose Parade. Then head out to visit Joshua Tree National Park, and its ruggedly spectacular desert landscape. Continue to beautiful Palm Springs, where Californians have congregated since the 1930's, seeking clean air and sunshine, for a panoramic city tour. The next day of your Southern California Tour, kick back and unwind by the pool, or perhaps play a round of golf (extra cost), or head out for some shopping at elegant El Paseo. If you would like, take an optional tour to the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. In the evening, take an optional excursion aboard the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, for a wondrous journey up the sheer cliffs of Chino Canyon.

The next morning, travel back to the ocean through Temecula County, California's southernmost wine region, for a tour and tasting at a local winery, a delightful stop on California tour packages. Arriving in San Diego you will be treated to a comprehensive city tour that includes the Gaslight District, Coronado Island, Seaport Village and Balboa Park. The following day you are able to discover San Diego on your own. Spend time wandering around Seaport Village, or experience the enormous USS Midway aircraft carrier (admission extra) - an incredible tour opportunity! Optional tours will include a Whale Watching Cruise or a visit to the world famous and delightful San Diego Zoo! Finally say farewell to newfound friends and return home.

Tour California then an enchanting Hawaii Tour!

The Rose Parade is a thrilling experience! Touring Los Angeles is delightful! But - the experience does not stop there! Next is a Hawaii tour - a delightful visit to a tropical paradise! After a non-stop flight to Honolulu, Hawaii, one of YMT's friendly Polynesian Tour Directors takes care of all arrangements for you, a real plus for Hawaii tours, and then hosts an informative Guest Welcome meeting. Start with a Pearl Harbor tour, where you board a Navy launch for a trip to the USS Arizona memorial, then explore the visitor center. Next take the H3 highway to Pali Lookout, for visually astonishing views of the windward coast of Oahu. Then visit Punchbowl Crater, set in a real dormant volcano. Next travel to downtown Honolulu to visit the State Capitol and Lolani Palace, the Police HQ in the new Hawaii Five-O TV show. The next day, enjoy and relax at the world famous Waikiki Beach, or explore the fashionable shops of Kalakaua Avenue. Throughout Waikiki on Hawaii tours you will find Duke Kahanamoku statues, a local boy who became an Olympic athlete, and was largely responsible for spreading the popularity of surfing. You may choose to take an optional Circle Island Tour, or pay a visit to the Polynesian Culture Center. Wrap up your visit with a YMT exclusive farewell dinner experience before an overnight flight back to Los Angeles.

Explore Pasadena after the Rose Parade!

Pasadena, California, is an incredibly gorgeous area to visit, especially during the Rose Bowl Parade in January, and is a hotbed of performing arts. Visitors on tour can get in on the cultural scene with an excursion to the Civic Center, which often presents the Pasadena Pops and a number of Broadway productions. Live shows also are often scheduled at the Pasadena Playhouse and Carrie Hamilton Theatre. If you enjoy museums and galleries as you tour California, you may want to visit the Norton Simon Museum, which is renowned for its extensive collection of European and Southern Asian artwork. At the Pasadena Museum of California Art, visitors will find temporary exhibitions featuring local artists.
