Self Defense Tips For Parking Lot Safety-the Top Ten
You probably already know that women are the targets of violence in 90% of assaults from street crime to domestic violence-women are the targets
. It has always been like that and probably will continue to be like that.
Parking lots seem to be a favorite stalking ground of the bad guys. They know that most of the people that are in those parking lots of women. And that most of them are distracted either with their cell phone, their kids, trying to find their car and all kinds of other distractions. The more distractions there are the easier it is for the bad guys to do their thing. Make sense?
So here are some self defense tips for parking lot safety and self defense.
1.Do your shopping in daylight hours. Most parking lots are not very well lit. The bad guys prey on people in poorly lit areas.
2.I know the old saw about parking further away from the store to get more exercise walking. Do your walking at home and park as close as you can to the store.
3.As soon as you get out of the car lock it!
4.Check out your surroundings , especially for potential hiding places for the bad guys.
5.Many stores still offer this service so don't be afraid to ask for help getting your groceries or whatever out to your car.
6.On your way out to the car try and join a group instead of going by yourself.
7.Avoid talking to strangers. The bad guys count on a response from you when they try to start a conversation. Don't fall victim to that.
8.On your way out to the car have your keys ready and have self defense product handy like a stun gun, a pepper spray or personal alarm. Keys make wonderful self defense tools.
9.As you approach your car look around, under and next to your car just as a precaution.
10.And finally once inside your car, make sure you lock it.
This may seem silly, but don't be distracted: focus on what you're doing, focus on your safety and you will be back to shop another day.
I always advise that if you feel threatened to hold up your stun gun and warn "back off." Sometimes the sounds and flying sparks of a charging stun gun are enough to scare the bad guys away.
If you think crime can only happen to the other guy you are wrong. The "other guy" is thinking the same thing and to him you are that "other guy". There is a reason why they call it self defense. You have to protect yourself, your family, your home and business!!
Chances are if you are reading this that crime has touched your life in some way or you consider yourself at risk. Take the next step and do something to protect yourself! Your life and safety is worth far more than the cost of home security device.
If you are in the market for a self defense product look for quality, effectiveness, and a biggie-LEGALITY. Stun guns and tasers are not legal in some states. Check with your local police department first before you get one.
