Setting Basic Criteria When Selecting Your College Part 8

Do you like the traditional way of teaching or love the new technological ways of teaching

? Does technology inspire you to study more? While many colleges have been adopting computers in their classroom teaching, not all of them follow this methodology. It is important therefore to understand the teaching methods followed in the classroom of a college.

This is part 8 of the series that explains the basic criteria to be considered when selecting a college. This article discusses the teaching methods adopted in the college and why a student should consider it.

Understanding your needs

It is important first to understand how you like to learn about things. Do you like to read voraciously and obtain knowledge about a particular subject yourself? Or reading does not help and you prefer someone explaining things to you and learning that way? Are you able to visualize what teachers explain easily or visual aids and simulators are better? Would you prefer to read a print copy of a book or a soft copy? Or would you rather buy an audio version and listen to it while working out? These are some of the things that you need to consider to understand your own needs. While all the options may not feasible, understanding your own needs would help you figure out the best college that meets your needs.

Teaching methods

Computers can allow teaching in methods that could not have been thought possible before. Presentations, pictures, simulations, etc. are some of the ways that computers can help learn quicker. Many colleges use a combination of traditional teaching with computers to assist in better learning. While some teachers strictly go by the theory, others believe in practical teaching.

Checking your learning preferences and finding a suitable college with similar teaching methods could help improve your learning abilities.
