Seychelles is a very famous island found on the Indian Ocean. It spans an archipelago of 115 islands. Its located 1,500km east of Africa's mainland and Islands close to her are Zanzibar to the west, Madagascar to the northeast, Mauritius to the south and Mayotte to the southwest. The island nation has a population of almost 90, 000 making it the least populated and the smallest African State. Tourism has been given the first priority in this island rated among the best destinations.
Seychelles capital is called Victoria. The islands are divided in descending order according to their sizes and type. They are usually in four groups that consist of Granitic Islands which are 42 in number, Amirantes group that consists of 29 coral islands, Farquhar group that consists of 13 coral islands and Aldabra group that consists of 67 islands. Mahe is the biggest island. The country owns agricultural plantations where it grows the major crops that include; vanilla, cinnamon, coconuts and sweet potatoes. However this does not do better that the tourism sector.
Seychelles has a very rich biodiversity. A lot of fishing is done by the locals while the government exports a lot to the overseas markets. The country has really protected her flora and fauna and its home to the Aldabra Giant Tortoise found in many of the islands. The Aldabra tortoise population is the largest in the world. There is also the rare Seychelles Black Parrot that is the national bird of the country and is now protected. All the islands in the country are good and have beaches all over.
