Seychelles Tourism Industry Keen To Highlight The Island Nation As A Safe Destination

The Seychelles is taking advantage of the negative publicity surrounding the island

of Mauritius in the wake of the murder of Michaela McAreavy in 2011 by emphasising the importance of preserving Seychelles' reputation as a safe destination. Mr. Alain St. Ange, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, has reiterated how important it is for all involved in the Seychelles tourism industry to come together and ensure that the whole world is made aware of how very safe it is for tourists in the Seychelles.

In launching the Seychelles 'safety' brand, President Michel has stated that it is his aim to get more of the Seychellois working at improving tourism so that the industry becomes even better than it is right now. It is time for the Seychelles to become an even bigger player in the world of tourism and there is no better time than right now when the likes of Mauritius are suffering.

The Seychelles has long been regarded as a safe destination for both families and couples and with the world's spotlight on the murder trial in Mauritius, it is up to the people of the Seychelles to remind the world of how safe it actually is there. It is also up to those in the tourism industry to do everything in their power to ensure that the island nation maintains this reputation.

The Seychelles is so safe that people from the island as well as visitors will have no qualms about sleeping in the streets after the Carnival International de Victoria which is a huge street party held every year jointly between La Reunion and the Seychelles. This goes to show how safe people feel here and is something that needs to continue.
