Have you been seeing your partner for long and are contemplating taking the plunge

While the picture may seem quite rosy on the other side of the river, but it may not necessarily be the case. To add to it, your friends and neighbouring aunts act as they are the biggest marriage counselors to have walked this planet, ever. Whats worse, the elderly women in your family constantly try to match your horoscope with one best match or the other. But it is not the astrology predictions or the movement of the stars but YOU who need to actually live through your marriage.
So, if you have finally decided to give-up on those priceless golden days of your life known as bachelorhood, then there are certain things that you must keep in mind.
Ready to Bite the Shaadi Ka Laddoo?
If you have clearly made up your mind to taste the elusive shaadi ka laddoo, then there are few guidelines or ground rules that you must follow.
For the BRIDE
Rule 1: Do NOT expect your husband to treat your parents like they are his own from the very day you get married. Remember, you have lived with your parents since your birth, not your husband. So he may need some time before he starts treating them like his own. The sooner you accept this fact, the happier you will be.
Rule 2: Once you are married, figure out a together time which is suitable and agreed upon by both of you. It may never have bothered you while you were dating, but could become a real pain in the bone post marriage. And guess who could be your biggest enemy to this romantic together time - your TV! So, dont scream your head-off; instead, sit down with your hubby and talk it out.
Rule 3: You husband may have been managing on his own and he may have been doing a fabulous job at that. But the scenario completely changes once you are married. Post marriage, you ARE the official housekeeper of his house; period. Simply expect your husband to act ignorant and move around his own house as if hes a guest!
For the GROOM
Rule 1: You have been the sole spender of your money so far but not anymore! The sooner you realise this, the better for you. Your money is not just your money, its hers as well. And just in case you are wondering that it works the other way around also, then sorry to break your heart but it doesnt. Live with it.
Rule 2: Your mom could have been the most amazing lady in your life and may also have been the best cook, ever. But when it comes to a choice between your mom and your wife, the best way out is to just turn deaf and dumb, instantly. If you dont, then Im afraid but even God cant help you in this. Just for fun - try comparing your wife to your mom!
Rule 3: Expect to be the official coolie of your wife once you are married. Whether you like it or not, but you are required to accompany her to any and every place she visits, especially her trips to the shopping mall. And while you are an integral part of those usually frequent trips, your say does not actually matter in what reaches your house, eventually.
So, while your kundlis or horoscopes may have matched perfectly before the marriage, but at the end of the day it is still YOU who need to make it work out for you to live happily ever after!
