Shakira Tickets - World Cup Song Starts Dance Craze
The 2010 FIFA World Cup is officially over
The 2010 FIFA World Cup is officially over. For weeks, virtually the entire world was captivated by the action of the World Cup, and in the end it came down to the Netherlands and Spain. Spain ended up taking home the championship and the crowd in South Africa celebrated. Since the final game concluded on the pitch, the excitement died down in the football (or soccer) world.
One aspect of the games, though, has continued its place in the spotlight long after the last goal. It is the official theme song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)." The song is by Shakira, and it only seems right that a Spanish-language music star sang the theme song for a World Cup that had Spain as champions. The video for the song shows Shakira in an African-themed dance with clips from the World Cup sprinkled throughout the song. The video has become a massive hit on YouTube, and according to Bleacher Report, the video has more than 139,310,000 views, making it one of the most viewed videos on the site.
The dance on the video has caused Shakira fans to respond with their own versions of the hit song, posting the videos on YouTube. One video was amazing enough to catch the attention of Shakira herself. A video was posted on Shakira's website showing a remake of the video done by a small town in Spain called Herreruela. The video was reportedly to support the Spanish team, and the level of participation is amazing. More than half of the city's 396 people participated in the video.
Shakira may have another reason to celebrate on Aug. 9, when the 2010 Teen Choice Awards take place, as she is up for two different awards. The first is for Female Artist, against Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. She is also nominated for the Activist category along with Eva Longoria Parker, Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Shakira is gearing up for a massive worldwide tour, and she recently announced a preview show in Canada at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Sept. 15. The date will set the stage for Shakira's massive worldwide tour, which starts in Uncasville, Conn. on Sept. 17. Throughout the fall, Shakira will be hitting cities like New York, N.Y.; Miami, Fla.; Dallas, Texas; San Diego, Calif.; Las Vegas, Nev. and many more. In December, she also has a date schedule for the 02 Arena in London. Judging by the size and passion of her fan base, Shakira tickets to all of her dates are going to be very popular.
Shakira is set to release her new album, Sale El Sol, sometime in the fall. The release will likely come before her tour dates, but no official release date has been set. The Colombian star's latest release is 2009's She Wolf. That album yielded top singles like the title track, "Give It Up to Me" and "Gypsy." She will undoubtedly be performing many of her hits at her upcoming live shows.
