Showcasing An Abundance Of Leg - Important Tips

Spring is your season if you are one of those women with good legs

. The latest trend on the catwalk are short shorts from tap pants to boy shorts and hot pants.

A fashion craze comeback from the '70s, these shorts will have the ladies crowding the gyms and tanning salons.

Contrary to popular belief, shorts aren't just something to wear in the gym, this spring's offerings will have something for work, play and even for evening wear. Coming in fabrics from traditional to floral patterns normally found in skirts and dresses and cut in various ways, these shorts won't just bring back a beloved classic, it will also show the immediate future of fashion.

Not so much as a figure hugger with turned-up cuffs or ruffled edges which are usually no more than two inches down the thigh, these shorts are called "hot pantaloons" or tap pants. They can be worn under slouchy tops or blazers for a chic look. To make you look more sophisticated, use nude or neutral tones.

Having what is called a negative hemline which could potentially show some bun, basic hot pants look like a wholesome underwear. Picture pinups from the '40s and '50s or even bathing suits from that era. For evening wear, they would be studded and sequined and for a more classic look, they would be high-wasted. If you top them with a classic looking blouse or jacket, you wouldn't look like you forgot your pants or just rushed out the gym without changing.

While shorter shorts were shown with over-the-knee boots for fall and winter, that won't be a footwear option with warmer temperatures. For a more shapely look on your legs, wear heels. Even without tall heels, the shorts alone would provide enough sex appeal, but for the evening you might want to go a little higher. But in general, it is better to go for a modest heel and a sling-back for a more casual and vintage look.

Boy shorts have a neutral hemline and usually sit below the waist. Pair them with denim and you have the perfect spring look for more casual outings. Daisy Duke isn't the only one who could pull this off. Top them with a loose t-shirt and add big bracelets, then pair them with flats or sneakers for a new twist on that old favorite.

This spring, top designers have added retro shorts in their respective fashion collections. Your local department store might tone it down a bit but be ready to watch the hemlines rise. Just remember that this look is not for everyone, even if well-toned celebrities and lucky teenagers may look fabulous in them.

Short shorts may be getting a lot of attention and turning a lot of heads, but if your body type is not meant for this look or it is uncomfortable for you, you may select another style that's better suited for you. Remember, except for gymnastics and dance, hot pants have been gone a long time and you can outlast them if need be.
