Signal Lights - The Information Lights On Emergency Vehicles

We need signal lights and we rely on signal lights

. Traffic lights are signal lights and flashing speed signs or indicator lights on any vehicle. There are signal lights pretty much everywhere we look and it is hard to imagine how we would get by without them. On emergency vehicles the lightbars and beacons also act as signals. They give us a sign that they are in the vicinity and that there is a hazard or danger ahead. Without signal lights the world we live in would be a far more dangerous place.

We pick up signals all of the time, most of them unconsciously. When crossing the street we automatically look at the walk sign as a signal it is clear and safe to cross. We don't think about these things and they probably don't register with us most of the time. It's just something we do. signal lights on vehicles are something we need to take note of consciously. We need to be aware if an emergency vehicle is approaching or at a scene and has a traffic advisor or any flashing warning signal to keep us away from the area.

We rely on signals quite a bit in our life. Some of them are visible signals and some are audible. The visual signals can be facial expressions, body language, sign language and of course lights. signal lights fulfill many different tasks and are invaluable on emergency first response vehicles. Without the lightbar or the rotating single beacon emergency vehicles would be virtually invisible to us. How many times do you notice an emergency vehicle that is silent and without any lighting on at all, not many I'd like to bet.

Any vehicle that uses signal lights has them for a reason. Even the family vehicle has many forms of signal lights. You have the signals on the dashboard that indicate something is wrong and points you in the right direction. There are the front and rear signal lights, which tell other road users which direction you are going, or if you are pulling into a different lane. We use signal lights all of the time. We just don't necessarily recognize them as such.

The next time you are on the street or on a highway, for a moment just observe how many signal lights you see. You will be astounded at how many there are and how much they tell us. Without signal lights we wouldn't know what lane to move to in case of obstruction ahead and we wouldn't know we had to slow down for the same reason. signal lights are a part of our everyday life and we would be hard pressed to do without them. Signals are useful and vital on emergency vehicles, and we need to see them to know how to react
