All women claim they want a real man. Unfortunately, too many men interpret that term as a man who is controlling, aggressive, and the bad kind of alpha male. What women (the sane ones at least) really mean by this is just a man who is respectful to women, who is ready to love and be loved without taking it for granted, and who is responsible for his actions. If you're a single girl in the dating world, here are some tell tale signs of a real man.

Calls when he says he will

A real man understands that women are not playthings. He realizes that you have to work, that you have friends to see and that he is lucky that you fit him into your filled up calendar. And for this reason, when he promises to do something at a set time, he follows through because he knows you put that time aside for him. This extends to calls. If a man can't do something as simple as call when he said, imagine in what other ways he is not responsible.

He accepts blame

A real man keeps his guard down when a woman gets upset with him. He doesn't instantly get on defense but instead allows a woman to speak her mind, and actually thinks about what she said and remains open to the possibility that he did something wrong.

A real man only needs one woman

It is of course flattering to have a woman fall for you. It can feel so great that some men need it to happen every single night just to feel confident in themselves. When a man is a real man he's ready to give of himself and doesn't need to charm and impress a new girl every single night to feel good about himself. A real man doesn't have some big hole in his ego that he's trying to fill up with tons of women.

A real mean can have a real conversation

A real man knows how to translate his emotions into words, rather than just shutting down, leaving, saying "whatever" and turning away or all the other ways little boys handle the overwhelming prospect of having to form an intelligent sentence when they're emotional. My friend was dating a bad communicator for a while. She is a voice coach and he would pick her up when she was finished giving singing lessons. He was frustrated she didn't finish earlier in the evening and so instead of communicating that, would just show up an hour early and stare at her intently, distracting her while she was trying to teach people how to sing, to let her know he wanted to leave. Fortunately for her she ended that relationship.
