As you start to ask yourself more questions the cycle gets worse and worse, until you find some sort of coping mechanism to stop it.
A lot of people resort to drinking alcohol because it's the easiest to obtain and gives almost instant gratification. The trouble with this approach is that drinking will actually dehydrate you and give you a hangover. Dehydration is major cause of anxiety and panic, also, hangovers tend to give people the jitters which will send you into the panic cycle.
Another technique people try is to medicate themselves. While this may work for period of time, the side effects of most of these medications makes you have no emotion at all or you become completely numbed to a point where you don't feel anything. The problem with this approach is that you are not fixing the root cause of the problem and you will always have to use this medication to not have a panic attack.
Fortunately there is a much better approach to this problem. First, you must realize that in nature, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This holds true with panic attacks as well. When you are in the middle of a panic attack your mind starts to spin out of control trying to fight it, this just adds fuel to the fire and makes the attack even worse.
In order to successfully get rid of the panic attack you have to go with it. I know this sounds crazy, but hear me out. You must first realize that no one has ever died from a panic attack period.

This will take a little practice, but once you have overcome a panic attack you will gain confidence, just like riding a bike.
