So What Does A Panic Attack Feel Like?
Most people who have an anxiety attack describe it as a feeling that they are "crawling
out of their skin." The symptoms of having an anxiety attack are very closely related to those of a heart attack and include:
* Shortness of breath or feeling of being smothered
* Racing heart, slow heart beat, palpitations
* Feeling of pressure on the chest
* Chest Pain
* Dizziness or light headedness
* Lump in throat & difficulty swallowing
* Skin losing color
* Sweating
* Shaking or shivering
* Neck & shoulder pain & numbness in face or head
* Rapid gastric emptying
* Indigestion, heartburn, constipation and diarrhea
* Symptoms of urinary tract infection
* Skin rashes
* Weakness in arms & tingling in the hands or feet
* Electric shock feeling anywhere in the body
* Dry mouth
* Insomnia
* Nightmares
* Fear of going mad or losing control
* Increased depression & suicidal feelings
* Aggression
* Flu-like Symptoms
* Distorted vision
* Headaches & feelings of having a tight band around head
* Sore eyes
* Agoraphobia
* Hallucinations
* Creeping or pins and needles sensations in the skin
* Increased sensitivity to light, sound, touch and smell
* Hyperactivity
* Pain in the face or jaw
* De-realization and depersonalization
Because of the above symptoms, now we can see why anxiety attacks can be so debilitating and why anxiety left uncontrolled can affect every level of your being. It has physiological, behavioral and psychological elements. It's certainly not just "in your mind" but affects your breathing, your blood pressure, your very being. Hence why anxiety attacks are very real and can occasionally land a sufferer in the emergency room.
