In this article, I'm going to introduce you to a simple Twitter feature I personally use to get lots of referrals. So for those of you looking for quick fixes and easy ways to get immediate traffic to your freebie sites or campaigns, this is it.

Tools you need

A Twitter account - Definitely need to have a Twitter account, other wise, what's the point in moving forward with this method of getting referrals.

A website or blog - When it comes to social networks, sending traffic directly to an incentive freebies site with offers is considered spam. It's much more effective to have a website or blog where your visitors can learn more and then be converted into your personal referrals.

Bit.ly - Bit.ly is a URL shortener which allows you to shrink your URL. Twitter's update box only allows 140 characters and placing an entire URL will take up much space leaving little room for text. So bit.ly will allow you to shorten your URLs so that you can have more room to say what the link is...

Getting freebie referrals with Twitter Search

Twitter Search is a Twitter search engine that allows you to input a topic, keyword, or key-phrase. Once you enter the search, Twitter pull out a list of thousands upon thousands of people actively tweeting about the key-phrase you enter.

So if you were to have an account with a freebie website offering a free MacBook Pro, like FreebieJeebies or Kudos, here's how you can use Twitter to pull out a list of people expressing interest in a new MacBook Pro.

Simply log on to Twitter and then go to Search. Input, "I Want a New MacBook" and hit enter. Immediately you'll be taken to a list of thousands of people who are ACTIVELY tweeting about how bad they want a new MacBook Pro. So what do you do next?

You simply reply to each user's tweet, saying something like this; "Hey... If you want a MacBook Pro, you can get one free for trying out a service and spreading the word (www.yourdomain.com)"

That's it!

Do that at least 5 - 10 people per day. Do it over the course of a few hours so that you're pitches don't seem to frequent and spammy. People are bound to click on your links and especially those you replied to. I personally get about 20 sign ups across 5 freebie sights per week. Many of them have completed offers.
