Use a vision board: This is actually quite fun, grab some magazines and newspapers and start to cut out pictures which either represent how you think your life will be when you are slimmer, or how you think it will be if you keep failing to lose weight, you need some of both. Then take some time to arrange them nicely and stick them to a board with all the positive images on one side, and all the negative images on the other with lines drawn through them to show they are what you definitely don't want to happen.

It only takes less than an hour to make one of these, and then you will have something which can motivate you for years, whenever your motivation starts to falter then look at it and you will know exactly why you should stick to your diet and exactly what will happen if you don't. The best place to put it is in the kitchen which is where you are most likely to be tempted to cheat on your diet as it is where all the naughty food is.


Take measurements: I bet a lot of people don't actually realize how much they weigh, or if they do then they don't realize how much they should weigh, start taking some measurements to help shock and motivate yourself. To start with you should find your body mass index, to do that then use a simple calculator you can find online and input your height and weight etc and it will tell you how you compare against the weight you should be. Then measure your body fat percentage using calipers you can buy online. By keeping an eye on those two figures, plus the circumference of your arms and legs, then you can see exactly how much progress you are making on your diet.

Get yourself a trainer: If you can afford to then paying for a trainer to come round once a week will keep you motivated. Now there is somebody expecting you to make progress on your weight loss goals and who will not be afraid to tell you exactly what they think if you have been cheating. They will also be able to start you on an exercise regime to help you lose weight even faster and tone up, and can even tweak your diet for you to help you get the best results from it.
