Simplify Your Life With A Party Planning Checklist
One of the key elements in successful party planning is attention to detail
. In fact, it can seem to consist of nothing else. No one can possibly keep track of it all in their heads, so start a Party Planning Checklist early in the process. Though it may change several times between now and the party, it is your road map to what needs to happen and when. You will need to establish a realistic budget for your party, so that is a good place to start. A budget will help determine how many guests you can invite, what sort of hospitality to offer, and the best venue for the event.
Having established a budget, you can start adding people-related tasks to the list. Compile a guest list, and begin preparing to mail invitations. Issue the invitations a little more than three weeks before the party so that intended guests can have two weeks to respond. It is also acceptable to invite guests by telephone, but you have to keep good notes. Do not trust things to memory.
About a week before the party, go to the guest list section of your party planning checklist and divide it into two groups: those who have responded to the invitation and those who have not. Then start calling the second group. You want a close estimate of how many guests you will have so you know how many items (such as tables or chairs) to order if the venue is out of home. Be sure to reconfirm these arrangements close to the party date. If the party is being held in your home, allow yourself adequate time for shopping, cleaning, cooking and other chores.
This is your party, and your party planning checklist; so be as creative as you like. If you want to give out party favors, these need to be researched and purchased. Add them to the list. What about music for the party? You might want to put together a CD play list, or even hire a DJ. That will need to be added to the list. As long as you are within your budget, the sky is the limit. Party planning is a lot of work, but if you keep it fun, you will have a great party.
