Single Moms Are Able To Go Back To School Through President's New Scholarship Program

Single mothers, stay at home moms, married and working moms each seem to be situated on the lower end of the food chain when it comes to careers

. It's well documented that females are paid less than their male counterparts, even if they do a better job, and perhaps are even better educated. Becoming better educated is the only way women can improve the lives of themselves and their children, and some of the grants available now can help get that college degree that was otherwise unaffordable.

President Obama gave his approval to include some grants available only to single and working mothers who wish to gain a better education. Single mothers especially can benefit from one or more of these government grants to better their education. It is difficult enough raising children on one income alone. Being under educated means there are fewer job options to select from. Working moms cannot ever expect to get ahead if their only job option is the fast food industry or some other minimum wage position. Earning a degree enables them to have a career instead of merely a job.

Applying for a grant can be done easily while applying at the college or university of your choice. Many working mothers find it convenient to take online courses, enabling them to spend more of their valuable time at home with their kids. One very good thing regarding grant money is they rarely need to be paid back. They are generally funded by tax payers in the upper tax brackets who make donations that enable them to keep within certain brackets so they don't have to pay more in taxes than they already do.

This form of assistance is proving to be beneficial to all parties concerned. The better education helps moms get better paying jobs, thus keeping them off of welfare. The mothers have an increased sense of pride because they can provide better for their families.
