. To deliver a particular mail to its desired destination, sometimes it had taken weeks or even months. But with the advancement of science and technology, the introduction of email has changed the total scenario. Now your electronic mail will get delivered to the desired destination around the world almost instantly. Therefore the email system has managed to smooth the total process of communication. It is to be noted that the total mailing system is dependent on the SMTP mail server. Therefore it can be said that this special mailing server has made our life more convenient.

Using these SMTP servers, one can communicate with any person in this world through the electronic mail. It can be said that it is the backbone of the emailing system. Basically the mailing system is dependent on the client server technology. Whenever an email is sent from the client, the system connects with the mail server. It then takes up the message and through various stages it successfully delivers it to the destination address. It is to be noted that there is a senders email address and a recipients email address attached with every mail. This secures your email communication as every time the mail goes through the server, it verifies its identity and tracks it to the right direction.

When a user sends an email, the machine submits the mail to the mail submission agent (MSA) of the SMTP mail server. After that, the MSA delivers the mail to its mail transfer agent (MTA). Occasionally, these two agents are considered as the different instances of the same mailing software with different options on the same machine. Then the MTA tries to find the target host by searching the Domain Name System. There comes the utility of the sender and recipients address. The SMTP servers use these addresses to deliver the mail properly. It uses the MX record to retrieve the location of the target host.

Once the server finds the target host, it connects to the exchange server an email client. It sends a message to the target host. When the target host replies with the confirmation, it delivers the mail to the mail delivery agent (MDA). It then delivers the mail to the destination folder. In this way, through SMTP server, your email will be successfully delivered to the desired destination with proper security.

In short, the SMTP servers have provided the simple way to communicate with anyone through email more securely and efficiently. It has given us the comfort to convey our message to any part of the world within the blink of an eye.
