Snowboarding Technics
Snowboard sport is always associated with being in the snow surrounding of the highland areas
. Probably, it is one of the most popular ways of spending time during vacations in winter, leaving behind skiing and figure-skating. It immediately obtained an image of entertainment for young and advanced people, while skiing is inherent in the image of the old-fashioned recreation.
Snowboard is a relatively new sport, which emerged as the offspring of surfing, skateboarding and skiing; by the way, the inventors and contributors of snowboarding were mainly skiers, surfers and skateboarders. It involves a descent from the snowy slopes of mountains on a special vehicle - snowboard. The first person to introduce some sort of this board was Australian Jack Burscheet, who cut it from plywood and attached it to the feet by horse reins.
Since those times nobody supported his idea, until 1963, when Tom Sims has made the first snowboard. It was called Snurfer and technically had nothing in common with snowboards as far as it lacked fastenings. Notwithstanding public disapproval, Tom Sims launched the production of SIMS Snowboards, which also maintained a keel at the rear in order to facilitate turnings.
In 1965, quick-witted Sherman Poppen watched as his daughter tried to slip through the snow while standing on a sled. In his garage he was able to merge successfully downhill skies, rubber mat, and on the front of the gadget, he placed an ordinary rope - "for management." This wonderful board was a gift to his daughter Wendy on Christmas Day 1965.The image of winter has transformed forever since. Later, Poppen organized the massive production of such snurfers and sold them in a cost of $15 per item.
During next decades the whole companies dealing with snowboard production emerged: WinterStick Company in 1970, arranged by Dmitry Malkovich and Don Moss in the State of Utah; Burton-Snowboards in 1977 formed by Jake Burton in Vermont. To date the Burton Company is a leader on the snowboard market (including
snowboard accessories).
In 1996 snowboarding obtained a status of Olympic kind of skiing competition. Nowadays the development of this type of skiing reached the point, when several variants of snowboarding might be named:
1.Alpine snowboarding, which includes different tricks and technics.
2.Freeride as a descent down the unprepared hills.
3.Freestyle - descent on a snowy road prepared for the implementation of jumps and acrobatics.
4.FreeCarve requires the high speed of motions.
5.Jibbing, where all kinds of surfaces besides snow are welcomed.
