If you spend a lot of time outdoors, either hiking or backpacking up in the mountains, you understand what I'm saying when I tell you there is a small but not insignificant risk of getting lost. You can make all the plans and the world, but if your primary directional equipment fails you, you need to have a good plan B.

There are certainly watch products available for almost every outdoor activity you can imagine. There are watches that cater to hikers and runners. There are different kinds of watches that appeal to skydivers and scuba divers.

The reason I say that is being able to look down at your arm and tell the direction you're going in is a great enhancement and just makes life a lot easier on a trip like this.
