This upscale coastal community is the perfect place to chill out and do a little shopping as it's home to some excellent cafes, gorgeous restaurants and plenty of upscale shops and boutiques.

On the other hand, if you'd like even more atmosphere for your shopping trips, then a trip to San Diego's Old Town should suffice. Here, you'll find impressive buildings and icons that date back to San Diego's Spanish heritage but that are wonderfully preserved. What's more, you'll have a chance to soak up a little of the city's past with regular live history performances, ideal for helping you understand the magic of San Diego.

Of course, watersports are another big draw and many hotels in San Diego will be able to help you book lessons or rent you equipment so that you can enjoy everything from surfing to scuba diving off the beautiful coasts of the city.
