These manufacturers will be providing free residential PV systems to 13 houses where each will be set up with solar PV systems on their roofs. This serves as a new milestone to the non-profit organization as it continues to embark on the journey of providing simple, decent and economical houses for those need them the most.

Habitat for Humanity was founded by the farmer and biblical scholar Clarence Jordan as well as others with aims of promoting racial reconciliation. The group was founded in Koinonia Farm in The united states in the year 1942. In 1965, Milliard and Linda Fuller visited Koinonia in 1965 as they want to begin a life of Christian service. Fuller and Jordan have introduced the concept of partnership housing. The concept of the organization according to their website is centered on those in need of good shelter working side by side with volunteers to construct simple, decent houses. The team has made a revolving fund which they called The Fund for Humanity to keep the projects going. The money is from new house owners who paid for their home with no interest as provided by supporters of the organization and numerous fund-raising activities. The funds would then be used for even more houses to be developed for worthy families.

In 1973, the Fullers acquired the idea behind The Fund for Humanity so more people outside of America can be granted decent homes to reside in. In the year 1976, the Habitat for Humanity International was founded. As of September 2011, the organization has created or enhanced more than 500,000 homes worldwide providing safe and affordable shelter for more than 2.5 million people.

A current project by the organization is developing sustainable homes for families in Dallas. As pointed out, solar panel rooftops will be provided by solar panel manufacturers and the houses will also be equipped with a solar hot water system. The Vice President of Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA, Tom Kimbis, stated that the solar pv systems that will be set up in all of the houses can help the families save a great deal every year. This can also demonstrate that solar power is feasible in the US.

The new homeowners are assured by the organization that they will be well-equipped to maintain the Eco-friendly and energy-efficient households which are installed with the solar panels provided by the cooperating solar producers. The homeowners must be commit to 400 hours of community service with the organization in return as well as attending education programs to learn about how to be a good homeowner and neighbor.
